We had CIRCULO DE CONVERSACION for about 30 minutes, with objects and pictures and books to discuss and converse about! We rotated to 17 different conversation stations, and then we practiced our new verbs and vocabulary and direct object pronouns with three partner speaking activities. We corrected and handed in last night's homework, and the next exam will be next Wednesday, over all of chapter 3A. Homework tonight is a worksheet packet using our new 3A vocabulary and structures.

Warm-up: we practiced words that modify nouns (libro de español, etc.) and then we practiced all of our -er and -ir verbs and then corrected and handed in our homework. We practiced vocabulary, and then viewed our book's video program, and did a practice worksheet using the information from the video. We read the text of the video and translated it, and did some comprehension exercises. homework: pages 55 -56 in the workbook.

Warm-up: we practiced our vocabulary from pages 126-127, and received a white packet with more House vocabulary. Then, we practiced talking about our houses, chores, and rooms in our houses with our Llama partner. We practiced all of the vocabulary on page 126 with our yellow worksheet, and then we learned 5 new verbs on a new pink verb sheet for irregular preterite verbs. Our homework is a worksheet using the words and structures on pages 126-127 in our book.

We corrected and handed in our homework, and then we practiced our new vocabulary, with pronunciation review, and then "desk slap" and drill and practice with our flashcards. Then, we read about foods from the New World, and talked about foods' origins and different types of foods, reading from the textbook. Homework: pages 53 -54 in our Practice Workbook

We corrected homework, and then reviewed a little for our exam. We had the exam for chapter 2B, and then did an art activity with the vocabulary on page 126. Homework: Tonight, fill in the pictures in the rectangles. Left side is a room in a house, and on the right side, what's the chore or job we do in that room? Homework for the weekend (due Monday) is fill in the new vocabulary for 3A, and ALSO make flashcards. Double points! (20) Tomorrow, we have a guest speaker, teaching us about Spain, where she is from!

Today we started our new chapter, about food! We did a warm-up practicing the verb ESTAR, then we had a pronunciation lesson and started learning our new vocabulary and practiced with our flashcards. Warm-up: we practiced putting together sentences with shopping vocabulary, then we did 5 complex conversational practice activities, and two worksheets and several listening activities as review for tomorrow's test. We took notes on all of the information in the chapter that will be on tomorrow's test, and we did several practice games and activities with all of the vocabulary, as well as a blue listening activity for comprehension practice. Warm-up: we practiced reflexive verbs, and then worked on a worksheet with textbook information from page 98-99. We went over and corrected all answers on yesterday's exam, and discussed more effective ways to prepare for tests in this course. How to memorize? Flashcards, re-copying lists, studying a little each day, reviewing every day's new information, going over all course material several days before the test, being clear about what's covered on each test. Homework: a worksheet over the same new words on the blue worksheet we did in class. Last night's homework was a new vocabulary list AND flashcards; you have ONE more day to do that for the 20 points for both, or an additional 10 if you didn't do flashcards yet.

Warm-up - we learned some Día de los Muertos vocabulary, corrected our homework, and had time to finish the test from the substitute day when most people didn't have time to finish. We saw a bit of Wallace and Grommet/WereRabbit, and our homework is to label the gold skeleton and the stick figure worksheets, practicing body parts. We finished the gold worksheet from last week, and did two more practice activities. We read our books in groups, and handed them in. We also read textbook pages 40-41 and discussed what we were like, then we did a survey, asking 20 questions to 4 different people, and we compiled their answers. Homework: new gold packet EXAM: 1B is Wednesday, over the whole chapter, pages 50-70, including SER, the adjectives from the regular list AND the supplemental list.

We corrected and handed in the yellow comparative packet last Friday, and then worked on the green packet. We finished half of it today, and will correct and hand in the completed green packet tomorrow. We played a review board game with concepts from the chapter. We discussed and reminded everyone about effective ways to study, since there is so much memorizing necessary! We got new Animal Partners, and practiced several conversation and question and practice activities with today's partner, el tigre. We learned the "hace...que" expressions, both questions and answers, and practiced with several conversations using this concept. We did two listening comprehension activities from the workbook, and handed them in, then we practiced p.68 vocabulary and did practice spelling quizzes. Homework: new worksheet that we got at the end of class (pages 18-19 PW) AND study for the spelling quiz over p. 68 vocabulary.

Then, we practiced our vocabulary with flashcards, a game (circle-the-word), and card-desk-slap. We got oral participation points for 2 listening activities, and then we worked on the capitals and countries of the Spanish-speaking world. We sang the Capital Rap, and we filled in a map packet. Today we reviewed our adjectives, watched the book's video and grammar presentation, and read aloud and practice flashcards with our partners. We filled out a blue worksheet about the video, and a white worksheet organizing the definite and indefinite articles. HOMEWORK: cut out and label the back of the flashcards in Spanish, and also do workbook pages 22-23.

Warm-up: we practiced our sentence translation using 1A vocabulary and structures, and then we worked on our new vocabulary, page 70 from the book, and two new vocabulary worksheets. We did conversations about describing people, and we learned about how adjective endings work, and made a Venn diagram categorizing the types of adjective endings for feminine and masculine (book, pages 50-56 and page 65). We went over the exam from yesterday. Homework: a new vocabulary list with extra supplemental adjectives AND make flashcards with the page 70 vocabulary (yesterday's list/packet of vocabulary)

Warm-up: we practiced page 42-43 vocabulary and the verb "ir" + a + places/infinitives, and practiced telling our partner places we were going, and creating long question sentences. We practiced our new vocabulary, from the new list and from the book, and read some pages of the book and discussed our extracurricular activities. We watched the book's video, including the gramactiva section. We played Lotería with o-ue stem-changing verbs. Thanks, Shelby, for the prizes you donated!! We practiced all of our grammar and vocabulary, and corrected yesterday's sentences and turned them in (the green cards we worked on in groups). We took our 1A exam today. Tonight's homework: make flashcards of all of the 1B vocabulary at the end of the chapter, with one side English and the other side Spanish.

We had a quiz on stem-changing verbs, and one on vocabulary. We have a 2-sided review worksheet to do for Monday, and Tuesday will be the 1A unit exam. We wrote and performed Backwards Day Bad Advice Skits for oral points today.

We sang "Dónde estás, Yolanda," and we did a 5-point listening activity from our activity workbooks. Homework tonight is pages 13-14 in our workbook. Warm-up: we practiced more stem-changing verbs, and then we worked with new partners on several interview activities. We worked on our vocabulary on page 40, practicing discussing all of our activities in school, and we did 5 interactive conversation activities in the book, on pages 28 - 32. We discussed success in school, and how to get good grades, etc. We sang Fray Felipe as a group and as a round; that song has "dormir," a stem-changing verb in it; did you notice? We worked on our yellow stem-changing verb packet, finishing up part E is tonight's homework. QUIZ tomorrow: stem-changing verbs from the verb sheet - you will have to spell the forms, and there will be about 15 verbs on the quiz.

We moved together with a new clock partner, and shared our art projects aloud, reading our sentences about what we like to do in each season. Then, we worked on our vocabulary, with a pass-the-card review activity, and then we played “slap the card” with the picture flashcards, and had a practice vocabulary quiz. We saw our introduction video again, and started identifying which students are from where, and we had two conversation activities with worksheets and partial conversations that we completed. We watched a Why Study Spanish video, with interviews with people who have enjoyed using their Spanish in their lives, for travel and work, and looked at the geography of the countries where Spanish is spoken. HOMEWORK: pages 15-16 in the workbook, QUIZ TOMORROW: 15 spelling words from page 46 - write the word in Spanish.

Tonight's homework is a worksheet that we picked up after the quiz; it's over yesterday's new information about indefinite and negative words. Today our warm-up was over Para empezar concepts from last week. We practiced our new vocabulary, repeating all of the words on page 46, and then practicing flashcards with a new clock partner. We played charades and password to practice the meanings of the new vocabulary words. Then, we practiced pages 26-27 and 30-31 in our book, using the new expressions "me gusta" + verbs. We watched our book/program video for this chapter, read the script out of the book, translated it, and then answered questions on the blue worksheets about what the characters said they liked to do. Tonight's homework is in our new Practice Workbook: pages 13-14. QUIZ on Thursday: page 46 spelling words - they will be typed in English, and we will have to write the words with perfect spelling, in Spanish. Practice with your flashcards!

We did conversation dialogues with cue cards, and then we reviewed the use of question words and did some other conversation activities. After the test, we picked up the new vocabulary for chapter 1A, our next chapter. The answers are on the second sheet. At the end of class, we played a review game in teams.

Today's warm-up was writing our body parts/labelling the drawing on the document camera. Then, we corrected and handed in our homework (PW pages 7-8/yellow worksheet), and practiced all of the dates and days on the calendar. Then, we moved to new partners and worked with flashcards and with our vocabulary list from page 22, giving each other mini-spelling quizzes to prepare for Friday's spelling test over this page of vocabulary. Then we played Grab The Flashcard with sets of picture cards with our partner. Then, we filled in a new chart with seasons, months, weather and birthday information. HOMEWORK: fill in the new vocabulary list, using the handout with all of the answers.

Then, we had discussions and mini-conversations about flashcards up on the document camera, including activities and sports and hobbies. Then, we presented our Biopoems to small groups of four, each sharing about ourselves. Finally, we practiced all of our information from the chapter with a translation card activity which we did in groups, and then corrected (did not hand in - keep to study). NO homework - tomorrow's quiz is over chapter Para empezar, pages 1 - 12 - study everything, especially from yesterday's study guide.

Today we wrote a warm-up list of "cognates," which are words that sound the same in Spanish and English. Then, we reviewed the numbers, conversation expressions and greetings, then took our quiz. Next, we worked on new vocabulary, reviewed the alphabet, and did a geography exercise listing the Spanish-speaking countries of the world. The new homework tonight is to write up our new vocabulary list using the list we picked up after the quiz.

Today, we reviewed everything we learned last week. Numbers, alphabet letters, colors and greetings. We started working with our books, and did two in-class writing and listening and conversational activities. New information: notes and handouts about spelling numbers and telling time. We explored our textbook and did conversations from it, then we learned an alphabet song.

BINDER: 10 points today for having it divided into 4 sections and being well organized: blank paper, homeworks, handouts and notes.
TAREA: (tonight's homework) Make flashcards of all of the new vocabulary words from page 22, in order. You need a title card, you need to number the cards, keep them in order, and have clear writing on both sides. One side English, the other side Spanish. 1/2 the size of a 3 x 5 card is the smallest size allowed, use any paper.

We reviewed more information from chapters 4A and 4B, and practiced verbs in present, preterite and imperfect tenses. Then we presented review skits over the various themes and concepts studied this year, with each pair working on a different set of concepts. There is NO homework anymore! Be sure to keep reviewing: final exam will cover from P.E. (page 2) up to the end of 4B, and your review sheet lists each concept that will be included in the exam. Also, look at Friday's handout about how to study successfully, to plan your time well. This is the final blog for the year - the next week will be all review and in-class practice activities, and there will be no homework. The final exam is 100 questions (Scantron), and also a 20-point essay, with your choice from among 4 topics that we've studied this year.

We learned a new verb tense today, called "el imperfecto" which means "used to" or "was/were _____-ing." We practiced using it with interviews about our childhood, what toys we used to play with and where we lived, and other questions. Then, we filled in a new green verb grid with the forms of the "imperfecto." Tonight's homework is page 182 - 183/worksheet that goes with the textbook.

Hoy hablamos del fin de semana, y discutimos varios aspectos de la película Machuca. Luego, leímos Cuadro Cuatro de La mordaza, y llenamos una hoja de repaso acerca de este cuadro. Hay que entender lo que pasa, los temas, los personajes, y el desenlace del argumento para el examen final el próximo jueves. Tarea para jueves: escribirle una carta a Pedro Machuca, de Gonzalo Infante, o el revés. Escríbele a tu amigo, contanto tu punto de vista de la historia de la película. 15 puntos, 1/2 - 1 página.

We reviewed for tomorrow's exam, practicing all concepts in the chapter, pages 154 - 181 today. And, we worked on a study packet (blue) that is tomorrow's homework. For Exam: know "tu" commands, "progressive," direct object pronouns (I see you = Te veo, She loves him + Ella lo quiere), and know how to give directions while driving. On the exam, you will have to give directions, explain them, understand them, and use and spell the command forms and vocabulary.

Vimos una hora de la nueva película que estamos viendo en clase, "Machuca," de 2004 de Chile. Es acerca de los conflictos entre las clases, y es una historia contadda del punto de vista de los niñnos.

Today we practiced giving directions with several practice activities in the book, including the Metro map and the map of Puerto Rico. We corrected and handed in the homework, and got a new worksheet that's due tomorrow. We also did a listening exercise from the workbook.

Hoy hablamos acerca del Gran Baile y el fin de semana. Luego, aprendimos un nuevo concepto de capítulo 13, acerca del subjuntivo. Se usa el subjuntivo en la segunda cláusula, cuando la primera cláusula (o antecedente) indica algo incierto, no conocido, imposible, etc. Por ejemplo: Busco una casa que SEA barata. Sin embargo, NO se usa el subjuntivo si la primera parte de la oración indica algo cierto. por ejemplo: TENGO una casa que ES barata, etc.

We did a warm-up with the vocabulary from yesterday, pages 154 - 155 in the textbook, and then we did a practice packet with flashcards over similar vocabulary, and corrected and handed in last night's homework. Then, we learned what Usted Commands are, how to form them, took notes, and did a practice self-test quiz over the concept.
HOMEWORK: on a regular-sized piece of white paper, make a house floor plan and label all of the house parts in Spanish. DO make at least 5 rooms, and try to label as much as you can. COLOR is desireable, because we'll share these in groups and show them to the whole class.

Warm-up was questions and interviews using the past tense, then we learned new "yo" form verbs from page 155 with a survey of other students, practiced transportation vocabulary, and learned a set of prepositions which we practiced with toys :-) We also went over yesterday's exam over unit 3A, and talked about study techniques and how to prepare for the next test.

We did a warm-up with verb forms in the preterite and the uses of direct object pronouns, and then we corrected the yellow worksheet which was the homework over the weekend. Then, we worked with new partners on using the verbs in the past tense to answer questions, with an interview list (nueva y verde). Then, we practiced flashcards with all of the grammar and vocabulary from chapter 3A. TAREA: new worksheet, gold, using verbs in present and also past tense.

Hoy repasamos la tarea ( J & K), y recibimos una nueva hoja de tarea. Vicente presentó su charla acerca del problema de las drogas que pasan por México y llegan a EEUU, y leímos el fin de "El level Pedo." Luego, vimos la mitad o más de Milagro en Roma, una película basada en un cuento de García Márquez. Hay mucho realismo mágico en esta película, con una niña que, aunque muerta, parece viva, y más!

We did a warm-up translating sentences using our vocabulary and preterite forms. Then, we corrected and handed in the blue verb practice worksheet (present and past tenses), AND the homework worksheet. Then, we practiced our vocabulary with a partner, using flashcards. After that, we practiced the pink verb sheet forms, and then we had our QUIZ. Then we wrote and performed Shopping and Fashion skits!

Then, we took notes over the uses of "ser" and "estar," which mean different types of "to be" or "am, is, are." We then played a racing-recognition-writing game with vocabulary with our partner. We did the warm-up practicing vocabulary and IR + a. We went over the homework. We learned comparisons from page 53 of the textbook and did activities 10 and 11 with partners. We also took notes on the concepts. We did an oral practice comparing people. We also got our tests back and went over the answers as a class.

We did the warm-up practicing our capitals on Spanish-speaking countries. We started on chapter 1B with vocabulary practice and learned how to say “I am going to” (IR + A). We took notes and did oral practice with our partners.

We practiced the verbs today with our warmup, then we corrected and handed in the homework worksheet. Tonight's homework is another worksheet, which is a crossword puzzle (page 40 vocabulary). We studied geography, did a blue worksheet about South America, and saw a movie about South America. Tuesday: Test over 1A: study pages 14 - 40, especially stem changing verbs, indefinite and negative expressions (page 31), and p. 40 vocabulary.

español V - Hoy repasamos la tarea (L M N de capítulo 4 de Repaso) y recibimos una nueva hoja de tarea, practicando estos verbos. Hicimos las primeras dos páginas de un paquete que repasa todo del cuento Un oso y un amor. Recibimos también una hoja de vocabulario. Hay que conocer bien todos los cuentos que leemos en Album, porque habrá un examen de literatura al final del cuarto. ¡Mañana, Antonio nos va a enseñar la canción de VIERNES! ¿Viste el eclipse de la luna anoche? ¡Fue muy hermoso e impresionante!

We did the warm up practicing stem-changing verbs. We went over the homework packet. We practiced stem-changing verbs with our partners and then took a short quiz on the verbs. We practiced vocabulary on page 40 of textbook and used pink flash card (with pictures) to practice vocabulary and verbs. We did activity 12 on page 26 of the textbook. We filled out a crossword puzzle with vocabulary and did a listening activity on page 9 of our WAVA.

We created skits using our Chapter 1A vocabulary, stem-changing verbs and negative/affirmative words. The skits were performed in front of the class.

We learned 3 new stem-changing verbs and filled out the forms on the chart. We learned negatve/indefinite words, took notes, and practiced them. We wrote Valentine cards and learned Valentine sayings for el día de San Valentín.

español V - hoy repasamos toda la tarea de viernes, y luego discutimos todas las preguntas al final de El tiempo borra, el cuento en Album que leímos el jueves pasado. Hay que reconocer, en 3-4 semanas, a los personajes, temas y argumentos de todas las historias que estamos leyendo; habrá un examen sobre todos ellos. Discutimos las preguntas de "qué pasó" y de "análisis." Luego oímos tres charlas, y la tarea para mañana es Z, AA p. 38 de Repaso. Habrá una prueba sobre capítulo 3 este miércoles.

jueves/español V- practicamos los nuevos verbos de capítulo 3 con una nueva lista, y repasamos y entregamos la tarea (D,E,F) de capítulo 3. Luego, conversamos en el paquete “El arte de hablar,” y escribimos las formas del voseo que se presentan adentro. Coleccionamos las firmas de las otras personas de la clase en una hoja nueva (dorada), y leímos el cuento El tiempo borra en el libro Album. Oímos dos charlas (La carrera a la Casa Blanca, y nueva investigación sobre cómo tratar la hypertensión). La tarea para mañana: G.H, M págimas 29-32 en Repaso.

Discutimos los temas de Una carta de Dios, practicamos trabalenguas de un paquete, discutimos también los objetos para traer a una isla desierta, y aprendimos un poco acerca de la forma "vos" que se usa en algunos países hispanohablantes de Latinoamérica. La tarea es una hoja de capítulo 1, y habrá una prueba mañana sobre las formas y los significados de los verbos de capítulo 1 de Repaso.
