español II - viernes, el 31 de octubre

Warm-up - we learned some Día de los Muertos vocabulary, corrected our homework, and had time to finish the test from the substitute day when most people didn't have time to finish. We saw a bit of Wallace and Grommet/WereRabbit, and our homework is to label the gold skeleton and the stick figure worksheets, practicing body parts. Bring your workbook and your flashcards for Monday, since we'll be using all of them next week. Feliz Día de los Muertos!

Warm-up - we reviewed our ordinal numbers, and then corrected the tarea from last night. We saw a movie about Day of the Dead and learned about cultural traditions honoring the dead, decorated skeletons, then started our worksheet/homework for Monday. This week, we got started on all of the 2A vocabulary; be sure to bring your workbook, textbook and flashcards on Monday, since we'll be working with all of them all week.

español I - lunes, el 27 de octubre

Warm-up: we reviewed our indefinite and definite articles, the verb SER and the subject pronouns, and our supplemental vocabulary. We finished the gold worksheet from last week, and did two more practice activities. We read our books in groups, and handed them in. We also read textbook pages 40-41 and discussed what we were like, then we did a survey, asking 20 questions to 4 different people, and we compiled their answers. Homework: new gold packet EXAM: 1B is Wednesday, over the whole chapter, pages 50-70, including SER, the adjectives from the regular list AND the supplemental list.

español II - lunes, el 27 de octubre

We corrected and handed in the yellow comparative packet last Friday, and then worked on the green packet. We finished half of it today, and will correct and hand in the completed green packet tomorrow. We played a review board game with concepts from the chapter. Tomorrow: Chapter test over 1B: pages 42 - 68, including comparatives, saber, hace...que and all of the vocabulary.

español II - miércoles, el 22 de octubre

Warm-up: we practiced our irregular "yo" verbs, and then we practiced more sentences and questions and answers with a new partner, and we went over yesterday's quiz. We discussed and reminded everyone about effective ways to study, since there is so much memorizing necessary! We got into groups to do a sentence review activity (the green cards), and we put all of the sentences together, and then corrected this. If you were absent, there's a worksheet handout with the same practice. Homework: Workbook pages 21 - 22 NEXT WEEK: Exam over chapter 1B will be on Tuesday

Warm-up: we reviewed SER, and all of the SUBJECT PRONOUNS. Review your notes from yesterday! We corrected our homework, and did another oral and written practice about our family, adjectives, and the pronouns and SER. Then, we finished our jumbled sentences from yesterday, and translated and corrected and turned them in. Tonight's homework is a worksheet.

Warm-up: we practiced the definite articles (el, la, los, las), and then we practiced with our new flashcards, and practiced all of the new vocabulary. We took notes on a new concept: the verb SER, all of its forms, and the new subject pronouns. If you missed class today, get notes from a friend! We practiced all of the forms of SER on a blue worksheet, then we reviewed family member vocabulary, and filled in a gold sheet about our family's characteristics. We then played a sentence-jumble activity game, putting the words in the correct order. HOMEWORK: finish the gold sheet AND do workbook pages 27-28

We had our vocabulary quiz, and then we learned saber/conocer differences. then, we worked on conversation card practice activities, and then review drill cards that we passed through the class, practicing the various constructions and grammar from this chapter. español II - lunes, el 20 de octubre

Warm-up: We practiced clue-definitions of our vocabulary, and then we corrected the worksheet that was homework. We got new Animal Partners, and practiced several conversation and question and practice activities with today's partner, el tigre. We learned the "hace...que" expressions, both questions and answers, and practiced with several conversations using this concept. We did two listening comprehension activities from the workbook, and handed them in, then we practiced p.68 vocabulary and did practice spelling quizzes. Homework: new worksheet that we got at the end of class (pages 18-19 PW) AND study for the spelling quiz over p. 68 vocabulary.

Warm-up: we reviewed the 4 words for THE: el, la, los, las, and then we corrected our homework. We got new Animal Partners, and learned a lot of animal names. We did three practice and conversation activities: pass the cards, translations, conversations, dialogues and also reviewed our vocabulary. We went over the Supplemental list, with personality characteristics, and then we reviewed the map and the capitals. HOMEWORK: write in the supp. list AND make flashcards of those 40 words .

Warm-up: we practiced un, una, unos, unas, then we corrected all of the Practice Workbook homework. We played several games with our yellow flashcards, (Go fish, match the pairs, and Table Slap) and then we did a listening comprehension activity (5 points/oral grade). omework: Practice Workbook pages 25-26 for Monday.

español II - miércoles, el 15 de octubre

Warm-up: we reviewed IR and other verbs from page 42 and page 68, then we handed in our 15 sentences and moved together with a new partner. We did an oral (5 points) activity with our partner, then moved into groups of 4. We had LONG conversations about our activities, and asked each other questions about all of the drawings from our homework. Then, several STARS presented to the class! We had Game Day at the end of class, with Juegos de mesa. HOMEWORK: It's a worksheet, PW 16-17. Tuesday next week: p68 spelling quiz.

español I-martes, el 14 de octubre

Warm-up: we practiced un, una, el, la, unos, unas, los, las, and reviewed those words and their uses. They are the definite and indefinite articles, that we learned about from the video yesterday. Then, we practiced our vocabulary with flashcards, a game (circle-the-word), and card-desk-slap. We got oral participation points for 2 listening activities, and then we worked on the capitals and countries of the Spanish-speaking world. We sang the Capital Rap, and we filled in a map packet. Homework: finish pages 22-24 in your workbook, AND FINISH THE YELLOW FLASHCARDS from yesterday!!! ¡Hasta mañana!

Warm-up: first we got to meet Sofía from Argentina! She talked about her school and about her country. Then, we practiced our comparative sentences from yesterday,and we shared our sentences. We worked with partners to interview each other about school, and worked on new grammar and vocabulary uses. Spelling quiz on p 68 will be NEXT TUESDAY. Tonight's homework is: FINISH THE 15 SENTENCES if you forgot, and FINISH YOUR ART PROJECT/6 boxes

Warm-up: we worked on "ir + another verb" expressions, then we corrected the yellow worksheet, then we worked on our vocabulary (p. 68 in the book) with our new partners. We learned how comparatives work, took notes, and did a practice activity with that concept. HOMEWORK: For tomorrow, write 15 creative vocabulary sentences from your p.68 vocabulary. For Wednesday, complete the art project/handout about your activities, by writing sentences below pictures in the squares on the white paper.

Today we reviewed our adjectives, watched the book's video and grammar presentation, and read aloud and practice flashcards with our partners. We filled out a blue worksheet about the video, and a white worksheet organizing the definite and indefinite articles. HOMEWORK: cut out and label the back of the flashcards in Spanish, and also do workbook pages 22-23.

Warm-up: we practiced our sentence translation using 1A vocabulary and structures, and then we worked on our new vocabulary, page 70 from the book, and two new vocabulary worksheets. We did conversations about describing people, and we learned about how adjective endings work, and made a Venn diagram categorizing the types of adjective endings for feminine and masculine (book, pages 50-56 and page 65). We went over the exam from yesterday. Homework: a new vocabulary list with extra supplemental adjectives AND make flashcards with the page 70 vocabulary (yesterday's list/packet of vocabulary)

español II - período 3, jueves, el 9 de octubre

Warm-up: we practiced page 42-43 vocabulary and the verb "ir" + a + places/infinitives, and practiced telling our partner places we were going, and creating long question sentences. We practiced our new vocabulary, from the new list and from the book, and read some pages of the book and discussed our extracurricular activities. We watched the book's video, including the gramactiva section. We played Lotería with o-ue stem-changing verbs. Thanks, Shelby, for the prizes you donated!! Warm-up: we reviewed culture and the dances of the Hispanic culture. We practiced all of our grammar and vocabulary, and corrected yesterday's sentences and turned them in (the green cards we worked on in groups). We took our 1A exam today. Tonight's homework: fill in the new vocabulary list. Homework for Monday: make flashcards from the 1B vocabulary list.

We practiced and reviewed our vocabulary and verbs, with Battleship and our warm-up. We had individual grade conferences, and looked at yesterday's exam. New: page 42 vocabulary/we turned in the worksheet, and began working on our new vocabulary at the end of unit 1B, and we filled in a new vocabulary list. Tonight's homework: make flashcards of all of the 1B vocabulary at the end of the chapter, with one side English and the other side Spanish.

Warm-up: we practiced stem-changing verbs and our vocabulary, and then we corrected last night's homework. We reviewed for a few minutes, then took our 1A exam and picked up a yellow worksheet over pages 42-43 vocabulary in the next chapter. This worksheet is tonight's homework.

español I - períodos 2 y 4, martes, el 7 de octubre

Warm-up: we translated sentences with gusta and activities, and then we reviewed aloud from our book, and watched the video story again. We completed a review worksheet with information from the video, and then we did a translation activity with 20 sentences on cards, working in groups. Our last activity today: we played JEOPARDY review game in teams. EXAM 1A tomorrow: study pages 26 - 46 in your book.

We worked on salsa dancing today, and practiced and reviewed all of our conversational activities from the chapter. Wednesday is the exam over unit 1A, and tonight's homework is pages 19-20 in our workbook. Start studying now - review and re-write all of the vocabulary so that you know it well for Wednesday's exam!

Warm-up: we reviewed our vocabulary, then had small conversations with dialogue-prompt cards. We corrected and handed in our homework, and then reviewed for the mini-quizzes. We had a quiz on stem-changing verbs, and one on vocabulary. We have a 2-sided review worksheet to do for Monday, and Tuesday will be the 1A unit exam. We wrote and performed Backwards Day Bad Advice Skits for oral points today.

We corrected and handed in our homework, and had a conversation practice activity with our partner, and then we wrote and performed skits for 10 oral points. homework tonight is workbook pages 17-18, and the exam over unit 1A will be next Wednesday, October 8. We also did a mixer activity, collecting signatures.

español II - período 3, jueves, el 2 de octubre

Warm-up: we worked on questions using our new vocabulary, and then we did three partner conversation activities. We corrected the yellow packet, but we didn't hand it in. We practiced and reviewed all of the vocabulary and verbs, from the verb sheet and from page 40 in our books. We had two practice quizzes, to prepare for tomorrow. We sang "Dónde estás, Yolanda," and we did a 5-point listening activity from our activity workbooks. Homework tonight is pages 13-14 in our workbook. QUIZZES TOMORROW: spelling test over page 40 vocabulary, and verb conjugation quiz, using the verbs on our verb sheet. Final unit exam will be next Tuesday.

We had our spelling quiz over chapter 1A, and did a 5 point listening activity with the blue worksheet. We watched more of our video about the hispanic world, and also the grammar segment of the video. Homework: the worksheet we picked up after the test today

español II - miércoles, el primero de octubre

Warm-up: we practiced more stem-changing verbs, and then we worked with new partners on several interview activities. We worked on our vocabulary on page 40, practicing discussing all of our activities in school, and we did 5 interactive conversation activities in the book, on pages 28 - 32. We discussed success in school, and how to get good grades, etc. We sang Fray Felipe as a group and as a round; that song has "dormir," a stem-changing verb in it; did you notice? We worked on our yellow stem-changing verb packet, finishing up part E is tonight's homework. QUIZ tomorrow: stem-changing verbs from the verb sheet - you will have to spell the forms, and there will be about 15 verbs on the quiz.

Warm-up: we practiced our “me gusta” expressions, identifying the pictures and filling in the captions. We moved together with a new clock partner, and shared our art projects aloud, reading our sentences about what we like to do in each season. Then, we worked on our vocabulary, with a pass-the-card review activity, and then we played “slap the card” with the picture flashcards, and had a practice vocabulary quiz. We saw our introduction video again, and started identifying which students are from where, and we had two conversation activities with worksheets and partial conversations that we completed. We watched a Why Study Spanish video, with interviews with people who have enjoyed using their Spanish in their lives, for travel and work, and looked at the geography of the countries where Spanish is spoken. HOMEWORK: pages 15-16 in the workbook, QUIZ TOMORROW: 15 spelling words from page 46 - write the word in Spanish.
