Today we learned Christmas songs in Spanish and made Tarjetas de Navidad and read magazines in Spanish. Then, we watched The Polar Express en español. Feliz Navidad; no hay tarea durante las vacaciones!

español II - viernes, el 18 de diciembre

Today we practiced our verbs and corrected homework, then we sang Christmas songs and made Christmas cards, and watched some of our movie. NO homework over winter vacation! There will be a test over chapter 3A when we come back, probably Thursday after vacation. ¡Feliz Navidad!

Today we reviewed all verb forms we have learned: commands and subjunctive. We practiced the subjunctive, corrected and handed in our homework, and we also practiced our indirect and direct object pronouns. Homework is a yellow pronoun worksheet, and we have our Chapter 3 test on Thursday.

We practiced our new vocabulary, learned more irregular preterite verbs, played the "dice" game, and we corrected our homework and handed it in. We also did an oral partner activity about "where we went on errands," and practiced answering and asking questions in the past tense. We have homework: a worksheet using the new preterite irregular verbs.

Today we practiced our subjunctive verb forms and lots of vocabulary. We had our COMMANDS quiz, and we corrected and turned in our homework, then we watched our book's movie. We practiced our vocabulary with Desk Slap (Agarra la palabra), and our homework is pages 41 - 44 in our workbook. EXAM over chapter 3 is this THURSDAY.

Today we worked on our vocabulary from page 152, and also on our words from the "a ver" section, talking about chores and jobs at home. We practiced our new past tense verbs, and did some speaking and writing practice, then a vocabulary crossword puzzle. Homework is pages 51 -52 in our workbook.

Today we presented our COMMAND skits, and we also reviewed ALL command forms and corrected and handed in the TU command worksheet/homework. We practiced more subjunctive forms and wrote a few more on our sheet, and we reviewed all subjunctive forms and uses. Homework: a worksheet practicing forms of the subjunctive, in context. Today we started chapter 3A, and we practiced all of our A VER and regular vocabulary. We also started learning some irregular preterite forms, and we practiced all of our house vocabulary and described our houses to partners. Homework: pages 49-50 in our workbook.

español III - jueves, el 10 de diciembre

Today we practiced our subjunctive forms and filled in more of our yellow chart. We gave our reports/summaries in our groups, and then asked and answered questions and heard the Stars present theirs. We did a tu-command practice activity orally in pairs, and we did several listening comprehension activities in the blue packet. Homework: Tomorrow, have your FOOD DIARY completed for all meals for 4 days. ALSO, add a 1/2 page or 1-paragraph short essay, describing and analyzing your food habits. Should you improve anything? AND, due today was the report/article on health + summary + 5 questions. Next Thursday: Chapter 3 exam over all of the chapter, including commands, pronouns and subjunctive forms.

Today we took notes on SUBJUNCTIVE SENTENCE STRUCTURE, and practiced ALL of our command forms. We did a review and practice worksheet and then a game, and we also practiced putting commands together with pronouns in the game. Tonight's homework: prepare your article and mini-speech for tomorrow's presentations. FRIDAY: you will turn in your paragraph about your food diary, stapled to the food diary. Next Tuesday: quiz on COMMAND FORMS. Next Thursday: EXAM on chapter 3.

Today we practiced for our 2B EXAM tomorrow. We watched our video, re-read the story from the video, practiced verbs and vocabulary in the book, and we did a review translation game with blue cards. We have our practice/review packet to keep and study tonight, and there's a new homework worksheet practicing past tense that is due tomorrow.

Today we practiced our vocabulary and our commands and pronouns, with partner activities and our warm-up. We corrected our TU command packet, and we took notes on forms and uses of The Subjunctive. We started filling in our new yellow verb sheet, and we have two assignments: food diary this week + paragraph due on Friday, and a report to give in groups on Thursday - see the handout for more information. Homework tonight is a vocabulary practice packet.

Today we worked on our verbs and our demonstrative adjectives, and we corrected and handed in our homework. We read an article in the book about "los jeans," and we practiced our verb forms and questions and answers. We worked on collecting answers from classmates on a survey, and tonight's homework is a yellow packet with lots of vocabulary practice. EXAM on chapter 2B is this Thursday.

Today we practiced our pronouns and UD commands, corrected our packet, and practiced pronouns. We learned TU commands (affirmative and negative), and practiced their forms from some activities in our book. Homework: a new packet with TU commands; we are dooing the Practice sections A - D, and then A after that - stop before the B part. Next week, we will have a quiz on pronouns and command forms, on Thursday.

Today we practiced all of our double-object pronouns, and we also practiced where accents go in verbs with pronouns added. We learned UD commands and UDS commands, and we did several partner-conversation and reading activities. Tonight's homework is a gold packet on UD/UDS commands, and it is due on FRIDAY, because mañana es día de comida!

Today we had a huge review of how pronouns work when there are two in one sentence, and we practiced them orally and wrote out examples. We also reviewed the uses of accent marks to show which syllable is emphasized, and we read two pages and did listening comprehension answers to the material on those pages about diet and nutrition. Homework is a pink packet about Double Object Pronouns.

We practiced using our vocabulary in sentences, and we did a green worksheet to practice meanings of verbs in the present and past tense. Hoy practicamos los pronombres (pronouns), y un poco del vocabulario. We signed up for what to bring to food day this Thursday, and we also went over last week's chapter test over chapter 2. We practiced the use of DOUBLE object pronouns, as well as how to tell whether a pronoun is indirect or direct, and where the pronouns go. Our homework is in our workbook - the next two pages.

Today we planned the Food Day for this Thursday, signing up for ingredients to bring. We practiced our vocabulary and verbs, and we practiced writing sentences in the past tense. We re-read our video story, and did a comprehension packet (green) about the information and about our own shopping preferences. Homework tonight is a verb-practice worksheet, and this Friday will be a verb and vocabulary test over 2B vocabulary and also the past tense verbs on our pink verb sheet.

Today we worked on our food vocabulary, and we reviewed all of the direct object pronouns. We corrected our homework, and then we practiced discussing food and cooking. We learned about Indirect Object pronouns, and we did a yellow worksheet packet and also part of a pink one. Then we played Lotería with food vocabulary; we'll complete that game tomorrow. Homework tonight: a new vocabulary list using words from page 110 in our book.

Today we did a warm-up practicing our conversation questions, and then we went over our p.150 new vocabulary. We practiced pronunciation and vocabulary with our book and flashcards, and then we learned how to say things in the past tense, we filled in most of the front of our new pink verb sheet, and we watched 15 minutes of Buscando a Nemo. Homework: pages 41-42 in our workbook.

This week, we're finishing up chapter 2. Every day, we're practicing our vocabulary by reading different parts of the book and doing partner interactive conversation activities.

Wednesday, we described art, and Thursday is "art lecture" and "reading articles" day, using all structures and vocabulary. Also on Wednesday, we got three handouts about the two past tenses, and we practiced imperfect and preterite uses on a worksheet and with our partner. Wednesday's homework was a worksheet, and Thursday's homework is the last two pages of the workbook chapter 2 exercises.

Thursday review activities including reading and listening, as well as writing practice over all of chapter two's concepts. Friday is our exam over all of chapter two. To prepare: read all pages of chapter 2, note difficult vocabulary, re-do homework as practice!

español II - lunes, martes, miércoles, jueves, 16 - 19 noviembre

This week we are working on starting chapter 2B. We took our 2A chapter test on Tuesday, after a review day on Monday. We have until tomorrow (Friday) to finish our new 2B flashcards. On Wednesday, we practiced our clothing and also re-told and acted out several stories about getting ready for different events. Wednesday's homework was a new pink worksheet over pages 98-99, and Thursday's homework is the next two pages in the workbook. Bring your completed flashcards to class on Friday, over words on page 124 - this is worth points, and also your BOOK (covered) and all materials! Hasta pronto!

We practiced two conversation activities with reflexive verbs, one in the book and one in a handout, and then we wrote and performed huge long skits using p.96 and reflexive verbs. Homework is pages 33-34 in our workbook, and there will be a unit test over chapter 2A pages 70 - 96 on Tuesday, 11/17.

Hoy practicamos los usos del pretérito y el imperfecto. HIcimos práctica del libro, y repasamos y entregamos la tarea. We also saw examples of the project, made by students from previous years in Spanish III. We had our quiz over the vocabulary + extra points on preterite, and then we took a trip (on a DVD) to Costa Rica. Tarea: a new worksheet we picked up after the quiz.

Warm-up - we practiced our preterite verbs and meanings, and then we took notes on -ir stem changing verbs in the preterite. We practiced them, and then corrected the part of the worksheet packet that we did as homework, and handed in the packet. We practiced our vocabulary and then did a communication partner activity with vocab. and preterite, and then we did Rapid Review with preterite forms on flashcards. We are doing pages 7-10 in our workbook as our homework tonight. Quiz over preterite forms is NEXT Tuesday, and TOMORROW are our presentations of our adventure stories!

Today we did a warm-up with the preterite tense, and then we corrected our homework which was past tense translations. We had 20 minutes of writing time with our partner for our stories we're presenting on Thursday. Then, we had our map test over the countries and capitals. Then we played Battleship. Homework is the last two pages of the preterite forms packet.

Our warm-up was over the negative and affirmative words, and then we corrected our homework. After that, we worked on some interview questions with our new partners. We practiced a LOT of verb flashcards, translating from English to Spanish! We saw our video again and did a worksheet. Homework: Practice Workbook pages 10, 11 and 12. Unit test over chapter 1A is this Thursday.

We corrected and handed in our homework, and then we learned some new preterite verbs. We finished filling in our pink verb packet, and then played The Dot Game with our partners. We practiced our countries and capitals, and we watched a movie and did a worksheet about Animales del Mundo. Our homework is the first 4 pages of work in the irregular preterite practice packet. Next Tuesday, we'll have a map test: identify countries + capitals, spell all correctly in Spanish; includes the whole Spanishi-speaking world.

Our warm-up was over the past tense uses of page 17 vocabulary at the beginning of the chapter. Then, we wrote in more verb forms and practiced all of the preterite forms with The Dice Game! We also did two review worksheets on the Spanish Speaking World. Our quiz over countries and capitals will be next TUESDAY. Tonight's homework is a worksheet over the vocabulary and also preterite verb forms.

Then, we practiced vocabulary and also verbs with our new partner, and took notes about the information on page 31. We did several practice exercises with indefinite and negative verbs, and then we did some listening comprehension exercises in a new blue packet. We started our homework: a blue worksheet. QUIZ on Monday over the new verbs on the verb sheet, and quiz on Wednesday over the 1A vocabulary on p40 - they both are spelling tests.

We also saw Carlos' poster on Mexico, and then we saw a video about El mundo hispánico and did a worksheet. Quiz Friday: countries and capitals of Spanish-speaking countries. Tonight's homework is a worksheet using the preterite and past tense expressions.

Our homework is a new vocabulary list over the A ver section of our chapter.

Today is the LAST BLOG - see Sra. Croft for final information about your final exam. Today we wrote and presented 15-point review skits over the whole course, and then we saw some of the picture projects! We watched a little more of Los Increíbles, and we got a review sheet and a homework assignment to do over the weekend. We practiced our new vocabulary from chapter 4A, and we took notes and learned how to say "used to" in Spanish. We learned the "imperfecto," which is the tense for talking about descriptions and the past, in a repeated sense, and we interviewed our partner and took notes on his/her childhood. Tonight's homework is a gold worksheet and a white worksheet, practicing the "A ver si recuerdas" beginning of chapter 4A, on page 184.

We corrected our homework packet, and shared our beautiful house plans! Then, we practiced four different speaking activities, using the past tense questions and answers. We took notes about what's on the exam this Wednesday, and we got a new homework assignment. We also did some listening comprehension activities. Today we worked on our verbs from chapter 3A (the new pink verb sheet) and our vocabulary on pages 126, 130 and 152 in our new chapter. We handed in last night's homework and practiced all of our new concepts and verbs and usages, including household chores from page 126. We went over our 2B exam from last week, looking at corrections for all parts missed. Homework tonight is a new blue worksheet practicing our new irregular preterite verb forms from chapter 3A. Thursday, we will go over our "dream house" plans, and we will have a 3A Exam next Tuesday.

Today we reviewed our verbs and vocabulary, and corrected and handed in the homework. Then, we looked at yesterday's test, and corrected mistakes. We got a new pink review/practice packet over Demonstratives, and we practiced in study groups, as well as reading and practicing in pairs and as a class with exercises in our textbook. Then, we placed Preterite Verb Battleship, and the homework is to finish the pink packet. EXAM 2B is next Monday, over the whole chapter.

We practiced our vocabulary with partners, and then we did conversation practice with scripts, using our shopping vocabulary and the past tense. We corrected and handed in our gold crossword and last night's worksheet, PW 45-46. We practiced our past tense verbs, and took notes on the uses of the past tense and the expressions that use the "preterite" tense in Spanish (ayer, anoche, el verano pasado, etc). Then, we started a new worksheet using the preterite forms, and we saw 15-20 minutes of Buscando a Nemo.

Then, we worked on our new past tense verb sheet, adding -er and -ir verbs, and then we practiced those. We identified and labelled body parts on Anatomy Volnteers, and took pictures! Then, we practiced a game of Password, giving clues about new vocabuary to our partners. Homework tonight is a new worksheet working with our p. 124 vocabulary list.

We got a new list of "animal partners," and then we practiced verbs and acting them out with our new partner today. We did some reading, reviewing the video story from yesterday's viewing of the chapter video, then we translated the script, and then we wrote out answers in our workbook for pages 25-27 and turned in pages 25-26. We did a listening activity on p. 28, and will finish tomorrow. Tonight's homework is a yellow worksheet, and there is a MAP QUIZ tomorrow, identifying the countries and capitals of Spanish-speaking countries.

You will have to construct sentences with all of these structures, as well as answer questions. Study all of your homework, and all of the pages in the textbook for this chapter.

Warm-up: we practiced writing sentences with 1A vocabulary and verbs, and then we corrected and handed in our homework. Today, we reviewed many grammar concepts: stem-changing verbs, the affirmative and negative verbs and vocabulary. We read 4 articles in the textbook and did several oral conversation partner activities. Then, we practiced with review translation flashcards, in a Pass the Cards activity, to get the verb forms and meanings memorized. Tarea: a new worksheet using 1A concepts. Test on Wednesday over pages 14 - 40, chapter 1A - all verbs, vocabulary grammar and reading selections.

We did some more practice quizzes like tomorrow's quiz, and then we did a yellow review packet about stem-changing verbs with our new study groups. Homework: a 2-sided worksheet reviewing the information in chapter 1A, including verbs. Tomorrow's quiz: know all verbs on both sides of our new verb sheet (the one with pensar), and be able to write conjugations out with correct spelling.

We have a worksheet tonight which is practicing the verbs and their meanings and forms. Quiz Friday over all of the new verbs on our verb sheet, both sides.

We also practiced with a gold Question/Answer practice activity, and then we did a listening activity in our workbooks and handed in those pages. Homework tonight: Textbook page 13, make a Diamond Poem, colorful, using all of the elements described on that page, to present in a small group. Friday: quiz on verb forms from our verb sheet.

We practiced all of our new vocabulary and verbs with several activities, including a conversation partner-gap activity and a Dot Game. We wrote in the rest of the front side of the new verb sheet, looked at our quiz from Friday, and talked about study techniques to be prepared for future quizzes. Homework is a worksheet, and we started each section. Quiz this Friday on the verbs that "stem-change" that we have on our new verb sheet - know the spelling and meanings.

Repasamos y entregamos la tarea (era una hoja), y luego tuvimos pequeñas conversaciones con el compañero de hoy/llama. Repasamos toda la historia de Una sortija en Album, y contestamos y entregamos las pregunas de Qué pasó, en forma escrita. Oímos un par de charlas, y la tarea es utilizar la lista de verbos de capítulo 3 para crear 15 frases ORIGINALES, usando el presente.

We got new Clock Partners for partner work, and then we practiced fluency questions/answers, and then vocabulary flashcards with our partners today. We worked on a geography worksheet with questions about South America in Spanish, and our homework is to do the other side (capitals + countries) and also do the additional -ar verb review worksheet as homework. Warm-up: we learned vocabulary about Romance y Amor! We corrected last night's homework (the map packet), and practiced all of the capitals and countries with the Capital Rap. We practiced with our page 40 vocabulary flashcards for chapter 1A, and then we practiced the vocabulary again with a crossword puzzle. It's due on Tuesday, along with the packet, pages 5-7 of worksheets. Use pages 14-15 in the book for help with that homework packet. Next week: quiz over countries and capitals, and also a spelling test on page 40 vocabulary.

Warm-up: we practiced SER and SER DE with nationalities and countries. We worked with partners on our vocabulary and verbs, and we did an oral "gap" conversation activity, finding out where people were from on a map. We also sang the weather and seasons song, and practiced all of our new vocabulary and some of the food vocabulary from Spanish 1. We played LOTERIA with -ar verbs, and prizes! You can always donate candy, etc. to my prize basket! The homework is a worksheet, PW 3-4. QUIZ next Tuesday over all of what we've been learning in the book, pages 2-13 (adjectives, verbs and vocabulary).

We played The Dot Game with our verb forms as a practice and review activity, and we sang/spoke along with a FAST rap about countries and nationalities. We did speaking and reading activities from our book on pages 2, 3, 6 and 7, and we have a homework worksheet tonight. ALSO tonight: cover your book, and organize your binder for tomorrow. Flashcards are also due; they were assigned two days ago.

We spoke with partners and reviewed vocabulary for 10 different topics, on butcher paper posters. We received a packet of level 1 vocabulary to review, and we checked out our Spanish 2 books.

Warm-up: we practiced more uses of the two past tenses, and then we did listening activities and video activities with the 4B chapter information. We also started to review for the final exam, with our gold packet, outlining what we need to review. We watched several of the project presentations, and we'll finish the rest on Friday. Our homework is a new worksheet. This is the final blog of this course. For the final exam, be sure to study every chapter from PE through 4B, including all verbs and vocabulary (except 3B, which we skipped in this course), and it will be a fairly long, comprehensive exam.

Warm-up: We practiced asking and answering questions about our childhood, then we reviewed all of the uses and forms of the preterite compared with the imperfect in a worksheet we did in groups. We corrected our homework, and then we practiced contrasting the two past tenses, and we also practiced telling stories with events that occurred in the past. We will be finishing a project next week with stories in the past tense. Tonight's homework is the Project at the end of the chapter, telling 5 things about our childhood and illustrating it to talk about in small groups tomorrow.

Warm-up: we practiced pl 168 vocabulary, and then we corrected the homework. We drilled each other on vocabulary with our flashcards, and learned some new verbs, wrote them on the verb sheet, and practiced them with the Dot Game. We did several practice activities out of the book, then we learned about Mate tea (from Argentina), and then we did a listening comprehension exercise on a blue handout. Homework: yellow worksheet

Warm-up: We practiced 4A vocabulary, and then we corrected the gold worksheet from the textbook vocabulary about family and celebrations. We wrote in new verbs on our verb sheet, and then we wrote and presented them, interviewing each other about our childhood and using the new tense, "el imperfecto."

español I - jueves, el 8 de enero

Today we practiced our vocabulary a lot of ways! We repeated, took dictations, practiced with flashcards and picture cards, played "desk slap," corrected our homework which was over vocabulary categories, and then we reviewed the video story from yesterday and did a blue comprehension packet over that story. Homework: pages 60-62 in the workbook.

español II - jueves, el 8 de enero

Hoy: we learned a new past tense, "el imperfecto," by listening to a story, taking notes, and then interviewing a partner about our childhood memories and activities. Homework: new gold worksheet. Today, we went over yesterday's exam and also got grade printouts.

español I - miércoles, el 7 de enero

HOY: we worked hard on our new vocabulary: we practiced with flashcards, we repeated and practiced the spelling, filled in a food pyramid, and categorized foods into different types. We went over yesterday's test, and then we watched our new video for this chapter, and read it and translated it in the textbook. Homework: worksheet with 3B vocabulary

español II - miércoles, el 7 de enero

Hoy: we corrected our green worksheet and reviewed verbs and vocabulary, then took our 3A exam, then picked up our new vocabulary list. Homework: fill in the vocab. list and also make flashcards for the 4A vocabulary. (we are skipping 3B)

español II - martes, el 6 de enero

Today we did a warm-up and several practice activities with the vocabulary about errands. We reviewed and practiced all of our irregular preterite verbs with two games and activities, and we corrected and handed in the verb worksheet that was homework. Our homework tonight is the green worksheet about lo, la, los, and las and the exam tomorrow is over chapter 3A.

Today we did a warm-up and practice activities with sentences with food we like, and practicing gusta and gustan. We corrected and handed in the green crossword puzzle, and then we took our unit 3A exam and picked up our vocabulary list for 3B. Homework tonight: fill in the list of vocabulary AND make flashcards. ¡Hasta mañana!

espanol I - lunes, el 5 de enero

Today we reviewed all of the vocabulary and the verbs from chapter 3A. We reviewed the video story, all of the verbs and gusta forms, and then we did a green crossword puzzle for review. We did three partner practice activities with flashcards, and our exam is tomorrow, over all of chapter 3A.

espanol II - lunes, el 5 de enero

¡Había mucha nieve en diciembre, y cancelaron una semana de clases! Today we reviewed all of the irregular preterite forms, with the cubes and our verb sheets, and we did several interactive partner conversation activities with the vocabulary. We took notes over all of chapter 3A to remember what is in this chapter. Exam is this Wednesday. Our homework is a worksheet, and we turned in and corrected the crossword puzzle homework and also the irregular preterite (pink) packet.
