español II - período 3, martes, el 30 de septiembre

Warm-up: we practiced our negative expressions, and also corrected the homework. Then, we practiced for the map quiz, and took the quiz over the locations and capitals of Spanish-speaking countries. We practiced our stem changing verbs, and started a review and practice packet over that concept, by working in groups. Tonight's homework is a worksheet that we picked up after the quiz; it's over yesterday's new information about indefinite and negative words. QUIZ: Thursday over the stem-changing verbs; be able to spell their forms correctly. What to study? Your book, the yellow packet, your notes, and the verb sheet.

Warm-up: we practiced describing "me gusta" pictures by writing the expressions, and then we corrected the homework. We practiced our vocabulary list from page 46 in the textbook, then in pairs, then with flashcards, then with charades. We took a practice vocabulary quiz from the spelling words on page 46, and also did an in-class crossword puzzle with all of the vocabulary. Then, we did a listening comprehension activity, and kept it for a review sheet. Our homework is a calendar project, describing what we like to do in each season.

español I - períodos 2 y 4, lunes el 29 de septiembre

Today our warm-up was over Para empezar concepts from last week. We practiced our new vocabulary, repeating all of the words on page 46, and then practicing flashcards with a new clock partner. We played charades and password to practice the meanings of the new vocabulary words. Then, we practiced pages 26-27 and 30-31 in our book, using the new expressions "me gusta" + verbs. We watched our book/program video for this chapter, read the script out of the book, translated it, and then answered questions on the blue worksheets about what the characters said they liked to do. Tonight's homework is in our new Practice Workbook: pages 13-14. QUIZ on Thursday: page 46 spelling words - they will be typed in English, and we will have to write the words with perfect spelling, in Spanish. Practice with your flashcards!

Warm-up: we reviewed our new stem-changing verbs, and talked about our weekend. FUI = I went (voy in the past tense). Then, we corrected the homework, and got together with new clock partners to practice vocabulary and read and practice expressions in this chapter. We also watched the book video, translated and read it in pairs, and did a worksheet practice comprehension over it, from our new workbooks. We took notes on alguno/ninguno and other expressions, and practiced using them. Tonight's homework is a worksheet, practicing -ir stem changing verbs. Tomorrow: MAP QUIZ/identify countries and capitals of Spanish speaking countries. Matching only/no spelling

We practiced our new vocabulary, sang the Capital Rap, worked on a geography worksheet about South America, and then we wrote and presented skits about our weekend plans. There is a worksheet for homework, due Monday. Tuesday: quiz recognizing and matching the countries and capitals of the Spanish speaking world. Wednesday: a quiz over the new stem-changing verbs on our verb sheet.

Today we did a warm-up practicing un/una, unos and unas, and then we went over yesterday's exam, and also practiced our new vocabulary. HOMEWORK: make flashcards with the new vocabulary (on your worksheet or at the end of 1A chapter in the book)

Warm-up: we practiced our new stem-changing verbs, and then we corrected the homework packet from last night. We practiced conversation-starter questions with a new clock partner, and then did a flash-card-passing practice activity with our new vocabulary and verbs. Then, we sang La Bamba and Guantanamera, and we wrote in the final verbs on the back of our verb sheet and practiced the forms with our partner. We played "lotería" with our new stem-changing verbs, and we got a worksheet practicing the new verbs; that's tonight's homework. QUIZ next Tuesday: know the countries and capitals (multiple choice), AND QUIZ next Wednesday: spelling and writing the stem-changing verb forms.

Warm-up: we practiced all of the sections of our chapter, in written and oral practice activities, and then we corrected the review packet. We took our Para empezar chapter exam, and picked up the vocabulary list to fill in as tonight's homework. Then, we took a mini-trip to Spain!

Warm-up: we practiced spelling dates, time, and seasons expressions, and then we practiced pages 2-23 from the book with our partners. We did three practice writing tests, and practiced with our flashcards. Then, we played Jeopardy with review questions from our chapter. Tomorrow's exam is over chapter Para empezar, which is pages 1-23 in our book. Homework: new gold packet.

Warm-up: we practiced stem-changing verbs, then interviewed new partners about their activities, with question cards. Then, we went over "quién es," and talked about everyone's hobbies and experiences, travel, etc., and we practiced our new vocabulary from chapter 1A. Homework: a new homework packet.

Spanish I, per. 2 y 4 -martes, el 23 de septiembre

Warm-up: we practiced spelling, weather and seasons vocabulary. Then, we corrected our homework, and handed it in. Next, we reviewed for our quiz, and took the quiz (recognition of weather, seasons and dates). Packet: new homework tonight is the Monster Packet + also the blue Review homework. Our last activity was Review Cards in groups of 4, and we corrected them. Don't forget to study for the Exam on Thursday, over pages 1-23 in our books.

Warm-Up: Tertulia! We discussed 10 different topics with our partner, and as a class. Then, we practiced the page 15 verbs in the book - the -go verbs. NEW: notes on stem-changing verbs, and we filled in some of the first page of a new verb sheet. Homework: worksheet practicing page 14-15 vocabulary. FRIDAY: map quiz: know where the Spanish-speaking countries are, and what their capitals are.

Warm-up: we worked on answering questions about the weather, and we practiced ALL of our vocabulary, using all of the words for weather, months, dates and seasons that will be on tomorrow's quiz. We practiced conversations with siutation cards, did a 5-point oral listening activity, and practiced vocabulary recognition with a Circle The Word game.

espanol II - per. 3 lunes, el 22 de septiembre

Warm-up: we listed and discussed leisure time and hobbies, then moved to a new partner and had a conversation about this. We played pictionary with the new vocabulary on our worksheet that was homework, and we corrected and went over last week's exam from Thursday, and got new printouts. We practiced saying and writing and knowing numbers to 1000 and dates, and then we worked on some -go verbs, and wrote them on our verb sheet. We played Battleship with verbs we've reviewed recently, and our homework is a worksheet, PW 5-6, using vocabulary froim the A ver si recuerdas section of the book; before chapter 1A starts.

Warm-up - questions for oral practice, which we then practiced with new partners. Then, we wrote and performed Famous People skits, interviewing Brad Pitt and many others about their activities. Homework this weekend is a worksheet, using the words at the beginning of chapter 1A.

Spanish I, per. 2 y 4 - viernes, el 19 de septiembre

Our warm-up was over our new vocabulary about weather and seasons. Then, we reviewed the vocabulary for the quiz, and had our spelling test. We learned the words el, la, los and las, un, una, unos and unas and how they are used, and practiced them on a worksheet. We have a calendar/art project for homework, due on Monday.

Today's warm-up was a translation review of everything in the unit, and then we reviewed with conversation and practice activities before the test. We did conversation dialogues with cue cards, and then we reviewed the use of question words and did some other conversation activities. After the test, we picked up the new vocabulary for chapter 1A, our next chapter. The answers are on the second sheet. At the end of class, we played a review game in teams.

Our warm-up practiced all of our weather and season expressions. Then, we corrected our new vocabulary list, and learned some new meanings of weather and date expressions. We worked on numbers with a practice activity with playing cards, did a partner conversation with scripts (ear and mouth prompts), wrote in new expressions on a new handout about weather, did a listening activity (5 oral points - comprehension activity), and we have two handouts as homework. The back of the blue listening activity, and the front of PW 8, another worksheet. Mañaña: QUIZ over p. 22 spelling - there will be 15 words.

español I - miércoles el 17 de septiembre

Today's warm-up was writing our body parts/labelling the drawing on the document camera. Then, we corrected and handed in our homework (PW pages 7-8/yellow worksheet), and practiced all of the dates and days on the calendar. Then, we moved to new partners and worked with flashcards and with our vocabulary list from page 22, giving each other mini-spelling quizzes to prepare for Friday's spelling test over this page of vocabulary. Then we played Grab The Flashcard with sets of picture cards with our partner. Then, we filled in a new chart with seasons, months, weather and birthday information. HOMEWORK: fill in the new vocabulary list, using the handout with all of the answers.

español II - miércoles el 17 de septiembre

WARM-UP - we wrote some translations using all of the material in the Para empezar chapter, corrected and handed in our homework, and then we worked with new partners. We passed flashcards with information from the chapter, and we also did two conversation activities, with cue cards and with an interview list of "how often" questions. Then, we had discussions and mini-conversations about flashcards up on the document camera, including activities and sports and hobbies. Then, we presented our Biopoems to small groups of four, each sharing about ourselves. Finally, we practiced all of our information from the chapter with a translation card activity which we did in groups, and then corrected (did not hand in - keep to study). NO homework - tomorrow's quiz is over chapter Para empezar, pages 1 - 12 - study everything, especially from yesterday's study guide.

Warm-up: we practiced some of our verbs, especially the verb SER, and worked on all of the vocabulary with our flashcards. Then, we did some work with all of the verbs, and practiced a speaking activity with nationalities and countries' names. Tomorrow, we have a presentation of the Biopoema on page 13 of the book, where we will read and present our biopoems. Tonight's homework is a worksheet, and we also got a list of what to study for Thursday's test, which is over the whole Para empezar lesson, pages 1-12.

Spanish I, per. 2 y 4 - martes, el 16 de septiembre

Warm-up - we reviewed spelling of lots of our vocabulary, and some numbers. Then, we corrected the homework, and worked on spelling with the letters of the alphabet. We did a comprehension/gap activity with phone numbers for oral points with our partners, and then we worked on spelling with our book. We used our flashcards and page 22 to give each other practice vocabuary quizzes. FRIDAY: p. 22 spelling test over all words TOMORROW: have yellow worksheet finished. ¡Adiós!

WARM-UP - we practiced telling time and spelling greetings and numbers. Then, we worked with our "clock partners" practicing our vocabulary from p. 22. First from Spanish to English, then from English to Spanish, then a practice spelling quiz. We practiced our new flashcards with a partner game of speed (grab the card!) and shared our Self-Portrait posters. Then, we worked on the alphabet letters, and played The Finger Game with the alphabet and also with our letters and numbers and greetings mixed up together.
HOMEWORK: packet pages 3-5, have your parent/guardian sign the progress report, study spelling of p.22 vocabulary for a quiz this Thursday

WARM-UP - we practiced adjective forms, then practiced our interview questions with today's new partner. We wrote out a practice activity from the textbook using question words, and reviewed those expressions. Then we sang "Bailamos" with Enrique Iglesias! We did a listening comprehension activity, and got our new flashcards to finish for Monday.
HOMEWORK: Make flashcards with 3 pages of words - write the Spanish on the back, and cut them apart and paper-clip together, or put in zip-lock bag; bring to class on Monday. QUIZ on Monday, over pages 1-12 comprehension, WEDNESDAY: bring your p. 13 "Diamond Poem" autobiography poster, THURSDAY will be final exam over chapter PE, with spelling of everything on pages 1-12

Our warm-up was practicing numbers (spelling and digits), then we practiced our new vocabulary, including words for days, months and classroom objects, repeating and pronouncing them all. Then, we worked on our flashcards with our partners, and then gave each other practice spelling tests. We had a partner-crossword activity, where we had to ask our partners for the answers to half of the crossword. Then, we reviewed and practiced all of our expressions for telling time, using the clocks and completing a practice worksheet with our partners. Following that practice, we went on a trip (DVD!) to South America, with beautiful landscapes. HOMEWORK: 1. draw flashcard words + cut apart/paperclip pile - 2 sheets of words 2. SELF-PORTRAIT: 8 x 11 paper, color, label body parts -put your name on this, and label extra things if you'd like to! 3. COVER YOUR BOOK -you will lose points if you forget next week! 3. Spanish I periods 2 and 4

Today we wrote a warm-up list of "cognates," which are words that sound the same in Spanish and English. Then, we reviewed the numbers, conversation expressions and greetings, then took our quiz. Next, we worked on new vocabulary, reviewed the alphabet, and did a geography exercise listing the Spanish-speaking countries of the world. The new homework tonight is to write up our new vocabulary list using the list we picked up after the quiz.

Today we did a question/interview activity with a new partner, and practiced our question words. Then, we worked on nationalities, countries and capitals of Spanish-speaking countries, and filled in a map packet and did two listening and repeating "rap" songs about nationalities and countries. We practiced our verbs, worked with our vocabulary, got new clock partners today, and the homework is a worksheet, pages 1-2. Today, we worked on SKITS, and we presented introduction conversations, asking two questions and presenting to the class. We also got our hall passes for 1st quarter.

Welcome to Spanish class!

Today, we reviewed everything we learned last week. Numbers, alphabet letters, colors and greetings. We started working with our books, and did two in-class writing and listening and conversational activities. New information: notes and handouts about spelling numbers and telling time. We explored our textbook and did conversations from it, then we learned an alphabet song.

PRIZE: Best decoration for textbook!

BINDER: 10 points today for having it divided into 4 sections and being well organized: blank paper, homeworks, handouts and notes.

TAREA: (tonight's homework) Make flashcards of all of the new vocabulary words from page 22, in order. You need a title card, you need to number the cards, keep them in order, and have clear writing on both sides. One side English, the other side Spanish. 1/2 the size of a 3 x 5 card is the smallest size allowed, use any paper.
